its all dependant on the shop. i was always told to try to upsell a tyre in that situation. Patches didn't always work on the flat bottom surface on some tyres, but on the curved area, i would imagine that the change in shape that could occur when the pressure changes could cause the patch to seperate in an extreme case. < shrug > you could probably call around or go somewhere else to try to get it patched.
